Unicode 8.0 Brings 7,716 New Characters Including 36 New Emoji and 5 Skin Modifiers

The Unicode Consortium has released The Unicode Standard 8.0 which brings 36 new emojis, 5 skin modifiers, 5,771 new ideographs for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, the new Georgian lari currency symbol, and 86 lowercase Cherokee syllables.

The standard also adds letters to existing scripts to support Arwi (the Tamil language written in the Arabic script), the Ik language in Uganda, Kulango in the Côte dIvoire, and other languages of Africa. In total, this version adds 7,716 new characters and six new scripts.

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 camera showdown

The Samsung and HTC are set to duke it out again this yearwith their new flagships the Galaxy S5 and One (M8). Last year Samsungdevastated HTC in sales, but in terms of device quality the original One (aka M7) was at least the equal of the Galaxy S4.
